Desire' Johnson

I've been experimenting in the arts for upward of ten years now. I have advanced abilities in oil painting, drawing, mixing medias, and design. I have a deep knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. My strengths include timeliness, creative problem solving, communication of ideas, and quick learning.

Education

  • 2016-2017: Associates in Interdisciplinary Studies from Nicholls State University. I studied a variety of subjects at Nicholls to broaden my knowledge base.

  • 2013-2016: High School Diploma from Louisiana School of Math, Science and the Arts. This is a competitive, residential high school that I was accepted to at the age of 14. I moved 250 miles away from home, got 45 hours of college credit, and came back with a new passion for the arts (and a few excellence awards).

  • 2018: Juried Exhibition. Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild, Houma, LA

  • 2016: Group Show. TEDxLSU Artists, Louisiana State University Student Union, Baton Rouge, LA

Experience, Features + Commissions

  • 2018: Mosaic Magazine. Mosaic is a literary magazine at Nicholls State University. Several of my pieces were chosen to be featured by the editors of this magazine, one of which was awarded first prize.

  • 2016: Cover Artist of Folio Magazine. My artwork, Shipwreck, was chosen as the cover of Folio by the Editor-In-Chief.

  • 2016: Arts Editor of Folio Magazine. Folio is a literary magazine at the Louisiana School of Math, Science, and Arts. I was chosen as arts editor due to my skills, experience and creative judgment.

Awards

  • 2018: 1st Place, Mosaic Art Awards, Nicholls State University.

  • 2016: Gonfaloniere of the Creative and Performing Arts, Louisiana School of Math, Science and Arts.
